Mexico Flights & Travel Guide Info
Mexico offers such an immense and varied array of travel destinations and attractions that you could literally spend years exploring the country and not see and do everything. The obvious advantage is that it's just a short flight away.
Mexico is an enormous country, covering almost two million square kilometers of land, and is bordered by the United States to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea to the east, and Guatemala and Belize to the south. A high plateau dominates much of the Mexican landscape.
The plateau is bordered in the east and west by the two parallel ranges of the Sierra Nevada mountains, which are extensions of the Rocky and Wasatch mountain ranges in the United States. The Sierra Nevadas give way to long coastal plains that extend to the coasts flanking either side of Mexico.
The country's main geographic areas are divided into dozens of different ecosystems, including vast forests and desserts, which are home to an eclectic mix of flora and fauna.
Mexican Culture
Three main ethnic groups comprise Mexico's population: Mestizos, Whites of European descent, and Indigenous - some 50 different indigenous groups, including Mayas, Aztecs, and Toltecas, make up close to 10% of the population. On account of centuries of coexistence by all of these different peoples, Mexican culture ejoys both a rich and complex mix of traditions.
